Who is on the Academic Senate?

  • Each division has their own representative that votes for your interests. You can find your representative on the Academic Senate website. A division with 6 or less full-time faculty members can join with another division if both desire.
  • The Curriculum Chairs and Professional Development Committee Representative serve as committee representatives
  • President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer

  1. Curriculum, including establishing prerequisites and placing courses within disciplines.

  3. Curriculum gives updates to Academic Senate and will put items forward for voting when needed.

  • Provide feedback on Institutional Set Standards related to student success.

The bill requires that a community college district or college maximize the probability that a student will enter and complete transfer-level coursework in English and math within a one year timeframe and use, in the placement of students into English and math courses, one or more of the following: high school coursework, high school grades, and high school grade point average.

  • Recent Faculty Survey
  • Approve faculty representatives to hiring committees, governance committees, and faculty coordinators, etc..

  • Approve faculty appointments to accreditation groups.
  • Update faculty on progress of accreditation.

  • Faculty Professional Development Committee has a voting representative on Academic Committee
  • We appoint representatives to the Professional Learning Committee
  • Approve FLEX day agendas

  • Delegate oversight of program review to Instructional Planning Committee a few years ago due to workload and desire to have staff and administration better understand program strengths and needs

  • Academic Senate President and Classified Senate President are co-chairs of the Planning and Budgeting Council (PBC).
