We’re big, we.re not as big as we were but our chapter has roughly a quarter of the MOAA Chapter members in Florida, more on this later

We’re doing new things. Mike Tucker, Chuck Shaw and Ellie Joy put on a very good presentation on preparing to become a surviving spouse in conjunction with VITAS and One Senior Place.

We’ve continued to Zoom meetings and when the network works, these are great. Sometimes there are issues, but we are resilient.

We received a $2500 Grant from MOAA and we used these funds to work with National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS) help keep at risk vets and their families in housing, The Good Deeds Foundation also contributed to this effort and other efforts with NVHS. Their contribution exceeded the Grant amount from MOAA.

Pish, Rita and Mike Schroeder have done a great job with the Intercom. I hope you all notice the extra color pages. Rita, thank you for making me appear to be literate – she’s a great editor.

You’re going to hear more about the activities of the Good Deeds Foundation and the Scholarship Corporation, they both had record years and made great impacts on our community.

You are going to elect new leadership in a few minutes, and they will be the chapter moving forward and improve on our past accomplishments.

It wouldn’t really be a military presentation without an organization chart. Please take a look at this structure and see if there are any areas that interest you.

I can tell you it’s very rewarding to get involved with chapter activities. We have several opportunities to interact with our chapter members at our various meetings. But when you spend 2-4 hours under our canopy at Wickham park, you get to learn a lot more about people. And we have some really interesting chapter members.

An area we could use more help in events. Prior to COVID we had a strong events program and about the time we should have been transitioning to new people, COVID hit and we really lost momentum. I think we are getting ready to re-energerize this area. I’m hoping for some new things next year.
