Attendance Matters

Success is earned one day at a time. Start by showing up each day!

10 of 32

Attendance Policy 9010

It is very important students attend school each day. Policy 9010 speaks to attendance in HCPSS. We want students to attend school everyday unless they are sick or have an emergency. Parents have 3 discretionary days to use and these days will be approved by the Principal.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

  • Car riders
    • Remain in your car. This allows us to keep the car line moving.

  • Walkers
    • Will be dismissed from the front door.
    • You must walk up to meet your walker at the front door.
  • Bus Riders
    • Students must ride their assigned bus each day.

  • If there is a change in your child’s dismissal procedures, be sure to contact the office at 410-880-5920 by 2:45. This helps us prepare for a smooth dismissal.

Bus Loop

Parents and volunteers CANNOT enter the bus loop during arrival and dismissal.

This is a major safety hazard for our busses and students. The parking spaces in the loop are reserved for staff.

The loop will be closed and coned off during those times. If you are volunteering or helping out for the day, you will need to park in our parking lot.

Early Dismissals

  • Parents must sign their student out on the early dismissal roster located on the table in the foyer. ANYONE PICKING up child MUST be on Family File (emergency card) or we cannot release the student until we receive your permission.

  • Your child will be called up to the front office upon your arrival. You will need to come into the building for early dismissals.

  • We ask that you do not pick up your after 3:00 pm as the students are in the middle of afternoon transitions and beginning to prepare for dismissal.
