I was paid $85,000.00... That price did not include materials.

Because the paintings were so large, I had to hire an assistant and technical consultant.

Each painting was made up of 8 4' by 8' honeycomb aluminum panels aligned with linen.

The structural elements to hold the panels together ,industrial glue and fasteners were also included along with Beeswax, carnauba wax,Damar varnish and raw pigment.

His advice/info he wanted me to share:

  • He has been working with wax since 1978 and now understand the process
  • When selling art come up with a set price and a price for materials. Make them pay for materials up front!

Once finished, on a sheet of paper...

  1. Describe your process in creating your encaustic work (look back at your notes-at least a paragraph)
  2. Describe your 3 nouns and how you represented them in your artwork
  3. Did you meet all the requirements: found object, photoburnish, multiple mediums, texture, 3 nouns? (found object=dinosaur, mediums= watercolor, oil pastel etc….)
