#8: Economic Sectors

One measure of standard of living is what types of jobs workers hold. As a country develops, what types of jobs its people do changes.

  • What do people need to have or be able to do to have higher paying jobs? In other words, what do attorneys, doctors, teachers, & other professionals have that 7-11 clerks, home health aides, & farmers probably don’t have?
  • What socioeconomic indicators could you examine to determine whether the population of a country has lower or higher paying jobs?
  • Five economic sectors (write the sector & a short description of the general nature of the work; see pg. 302)
    • Primary
    • Secondary
    • Tertiary
  • Quaternary (we’ll do this one together)
  • Quinary (we’ll do this one together)
