Parker Ranch Security Measures

Flock Cameras:

  • Installed at 4 entrances to Parker Ranch (PR) Neighborhood close to the Parker Ranch neighborhood signs
  • Renewed through April 2025.
  • As some of you may already know, the way these cameras work is as soon as a stolen car or a car with stolen license plates enters/exists PR from any of the 4 entrances, the local police get an instant alert about it. We can also search for records of an automobile with some known information (license plate, car make etc.) that entered PR for upto 30 days.
  • The city of Saratoga has also deployed the flock cameras at 7 Saratoga city entrances since fall 2022, and per the crime reports, the police have been successful thus far in immediately apprehending criminals as soon as they entered the city space.

Security Patrol:

  • Since the community voted for keeping the security patrol, we will continue having a daily patrol
  • However, the board will look into switching back to the previous security patrol company as a lot of residents have indicated they liked their service better than the current company. To keep the security expenditure the same, we may have to agree on slightly reduced patrol hours.

Security For July 4th:

  • 3 private guards from the current security company will be manning Parker Ranch from 6:00pm to 11:30pm. In addition, we will have the regular security patrol from 6pm till 3:30am.

Lawsuit- Hartmann vs. Parker Ranch HOA

  • The Board was notified of the filing on May 17, 2024.
  • The lawsuit alleges the Board failed to take appropriate action and enforce the CC&Rs against the Hartmanns’ neighbors, and the Hartmanns seek a Court order forcing, among other things, the Board to preclude the neighbors from operating what Hartmann believes is a school.
  • PR HOA answer due July 5, after which discovery will ensue.
  • First Court hearing is October 15, 2024. Trial likely later part of 2025 (at the earliest)
  • HOA insurance carrier has accepted coverage and assigned counsel
  • Estimated total defense costs: $1,000 deductible against damages and $5,000-10,000 for an outside HOA counsel
  • Impact on future insurance coverage, insurance premiums and member annual assessments, unknown at this time.

  • Insurance discounts
    • 2022 and 2023 CA rules gives residents up to 7-18% discounts who harden their residence and/or live in a Firewise community
