COMPETITIVE EVENTS

  • Impound
    • Check in competitive event “products” i.e., Dragsters, Children’s Stories, Planes etc.
  • Online Submission
    • Competitive events with a digital submission will need to be submitted through the submission portal 2 weeks in advance of the State Conference to allow for online judging
  • Testing
    • Testing will open a few days prior to the conference and students will take their exams online through the AnswerWrite system.

COMPETITIVE EVENTS

  • Slot Sign-Up
    • Coordinate with team members to sign up for event presentation times via the QR Codes provided
  • Prompt Releases
    • For on-site event challenges, prompts will be emailed to advisors at set times based on length of working time

GENERAL SESSIONS

  • State Chapter meetings
    • General Sessions are the congregation of all State Conference attendees hosted by the State Officers. It is highly encouraged for all NM TSA Members to attend.
  • Guest Speakers
    • At the Opening and Closing Sessions, guest speakers from the University or Industry
  • Voting Delegations
    • 2 students from each chapter will need to be selected as voting delegates. �Voting delegates will attend the meeting and vote on new bylaws and officers.

Shirt: Official TSA blue dress shirt OR button-

down dress shirt OR any polo/golf shirt OR blouse

Pants or Skirts: black, gray or khaki. Skirts must

be at least as long as your fingertips when your

arms are at your sides.

Shoes & Socks: Dress shoes & dark

socks/hosiery.

THINGS TO DO WHILE NOT COMPETING

  • Game Lounge
    • We are bringing back the gaming lounge where students can check-out video and board games, card games, and LEGO sets
  • NMSU Campus
    • Students may visit the NMSU Campus with a Chaperon across the street from the convention center
  • College & Career Fair
    • We are inviting multiple admissions and recruiters from NMSU as well as industry partner to table at the conference. Students and parents can ask questions and learn more about what NMSU has to offer your students.

AWARDS CEREMONY

  • Medals
    • Winners of the competitive events will be announced and handed their medals and semi-finalist pins.
  • NMAA State Championship – Chapter of the Year
    • The winner recognizes a chapter that demonstrates exceptional achievement in areas such as leadership, �community involvement, and participation in state and national competitions.
    • Leadership Development: Active engagement in fostering leadership skills among members.
    • Community Service: Participation in service projects that benefit the local community.
    • Competitive Excellence: Success in state and national TSA competitions.
    • Membership Growth: Efforts to expand and sustain chapter membership.
    • Chapter Management: Effective organization and operation of chapter activities.
    • Chapter Performance: How well the chapter performed in their competitive events

CHAPTER PERFORMANCE

Chapter performance is calculated based on the number of finalists each chapter finished the conference, �taking into consideration the number of events participated in, and the number of entries in events. 

A Finalist is 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place.

    • 1st Place = 3 Points
    • 2nd Place = 2 Points
    • 3rd Place = 1 Point
  • Multipliers: For events that are more competitive, i.e. more entries, a multipliers is multiplied to the original scoring point
    • 1 Entry = 0 Multiplier
    • 2-3 Entries = 0.5 Multiplier
    • 4-8 Entry = 1 Multiplier
    • 8-12 Entries 1.5 Multiplier
    • 12+ Entries = 2 Multiplier

CHAPTER PERFORMANCE

Finalist Points = Sum of Points earned with Finalists

    • % of Finalists Points = (Total Number Finalists / Total Number of Events Competed In) x 100
    • Chapter Performance = (% of Finalists Points) + (Finalist Points)
  • Example
    • Chapter A
    • Total Number of Events Competed In = 26
    • Total Number Finalists = 16
    • % of Finalists = 61.53%
    • Finalist Points = 43
    • Chapter Performance = 104.53 Additional Points
  • The more events you finalist in and the more competitive events you place in, �the more points you earn.
