Feel for the chest rise and fall or warm breath under the nose.

2. Consciousness

Shout their name; If not response, use a trap pinch (neck/shoulder area).

3. Pupils

Lift the eyelid and use a phone light. Pinpoint pupils stay tiny.

Activity: Advocacy Drill

    • Step A: Demonstrate the Trap Pinch (on themselves) to show they understand how to check for unconsciousness.
    • Step B: "Inform" your partner of the 2-Minute Rule. (Wait 2 minutes after Narcan; if no response, give another dose).
    • Step C: Explain the Re-OD Risk. (Why must the person go to the hospital even if they wake up? Because the opioid lasts longer than the Narcan).
