Let’s Play: Get the Glitch!

Unplugged Game: Play a game to engage students to think about algorithms and sequencing. Students give you, the teacher/robot/computer instructions, like walk, to navigate you to the Glitch plushie (or any other item) across the room. When students tell you to walk, take one step until they tell you to walk again.

HOW TO PLAY:

Place the class Glitch plushie somewhere in the room.
Stand somewhere away, but facing Glitch.
Tell students the goal of the game: Give me instructions to get to Glitch.
(Optional) Set a few command rules, you can only give me the instructions walk and turn.
Play the game a few times by adding complexity to the game.

Do not start facing Glitch, so students will have to use turn. When students say turn, you can choose to do 90 degree turns or a single turn to face Glitch.
The path from you to Glitch includes obstacles, like desks. Students will have to use the turn command.
Have a student be the robot/computer.
