Our Title I Program

  • Through our Title I funding, we are able to supplement our resources for our students.
  • In previous years, we have purchased materials, equipment, added to our teaching staff, and provided training for our staff.

Getting Ready For Kindergarten

  • Teachable moments: Look for opportunities to teach your child numbers, letters, colors, shapes. Technology: Introduce your child to the computer or tablet with learning games:

  • Social skills: Encourage activities that involve sharing, taking turns, listening, and following directions.

  • Responsibility: Let your child help with chores at home.
  • Conversation skills: Practice conversation skills.
  • Good choices: Limit the amount of TV your child watches.
  • Praise: Encourage your child’s love for learning with praise. Recognize curiosity.

  • Schedule: Help your child get used to a school-like schedule
  • Healthy Habits: regular bedtime and routine, exercise
  • Personal needs: going to the bathroom without help, washing hands, blowing nose, eating/feeding, buttoning/zipping clothes and tie shoelaces
  • Attendance: School is a priority and on time arrival for school every day is important.

Ways Parents Can Get Involved

  • Read newsletters and reports that come home.
  • Check school website https://striplinges.gcpsk12.org/
  • Check district website www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us

  • Be familiar with the AKS and practice skills at home with your child. Support your child with homework.

  • Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • Take time to get to know the adults: teachers, principal, office personnel, bus driver, etc.

  • Become involved in the PTA and other school committees
  • Volunteer at the school (Media Center, Parent Center, etc.)
  • Visit the school’s Parent Center and check out books, games and other materials for free.
