A note from the Principal

Progress Reports will be issued to families on Monday, Oct. 5. Standard Progress Reports will be emailed to grades 3-5, as historically have taken place. As for grades K-2, the information that is provided on our Progress Reports is a quick snapshot of how your child is performing on our grade level standards thus far. Please keep in mind a few things as you begin to review your child(ren)’s K-2 progress:

  • District policy is that Progress Reports are sent to families when there is a concern, either academically or behaviorally. Some teachers choose to send Reports for all students.
  • The standards that are reported are skills that are expected to be achieved by the end of the year. We expect students to fall within the lower end of our proficiency scales as we haven’t yet taught them everything within these standards.
  • Our students are coming back to school after being off for a significant amount of time. There will be some that have regressed and need some extra time to recoup the skills they forgot. This is OK and we know this is something we were going to tackle this year.
  • Do not get discouraged if you see your child is at a “1” in an area because we are still in the beginning of the school year.

We will continue to communicate with you about your child(ren)’s progress as the year moves forward. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher to talk through them.

Thank you,

Mr. Marc Schultz
