1 | R068 - Design a business proposal: This is the first compulsory unit of the CNA Enterprise and Marketing course. These build up fundamental skills which will be needed in the next unit of coursework R069 and also the examined unit in year 11. | This is the fundamentals to any business process and also entrepreneurship. Being able to carry out market research and propose ideas are the fundamental skills of any business person. | The unit will be delivered through a wide range of lessons including theory, case studies, news article, independent and group work activities. The unit will require students to complete coursework linked to the exam board brief ensuring to meet all of the required criteria. | In this unit students will learn how to develop market research tools and use these to complete market research. Students will then use their findings to decide who their customers are, create a design mix and produce product design ideas. Students will then receive feedback on their designs and will make financial decisions based on calculations and profit margins. 1 | Unit 1 Investigating the Business Environment - to gain an understanding of different types of businesses, the external environment and the importance of innovation | Component 1 Investigating the Business Environment is the introductory unit to the BTEC Extended Certificate and covers the fundamentals of the course e.g business aims and ownership. | A range of individual and group tasks, discussions, presentations and quizzes will be used. 1 | Component 3 Personal and Business Finance This unit includes aspects of both personal and business finance. Personal finance involves the understanding of why money is important and how managing money can help prevent future financial difficulties. Finance is at the heart of everything that businesses do. | This unit builds on the financial content covered in previous units. The January sitting of this exam gives students the opportunity to resit in the summer should they wish to do so. | Students will study a wide range of business case studies both individually and in groups. They will use past exam papers and modelling to develop their exam technique. | This unit gives students an insight into where they can get financial advice and support. The business finance aspects of the unit introduces students to accounting terminology, the purpose and importance of business accounts and the different sources of finance available to businesses. Planning tools, such as cash flow forecasts and break-even, will be prepared and analysed. Measuring the financial performance of a business will require students to prepare and analyse statements of comprehensive income and statements of financial position. This unit is assessed by a 2 hour external exam in January. | This unit will provide a foundation for a number of other finance and business units and will help students to analyse profitability, liquidity and business efficiency.
