Outreach Committee 2021 Highlights

  • Lent: Participated in ELCA’s 40 Days of Giving supporting hunger relief efforts through Lutheran World Relief.
  • Spring: Prepared GRACE Transition unit for new client who moved in May 2021.
  • June 1-4: Feed Our Kids: provided lunches for children in Grapevine area who regularly receive free/reduced lunches during the school year.
  • August: Collected and delivered backpacks with school supplies to families of San Gabriel.
  • September 12: God’s Work Our Hands Sunday: Provided opportunities for members to participate in service projects including painting flowerpots for GRACE transition unit and collecting oil and pantry goods for GRACE pantry

Outreach Committee 2021 Highlights

  • October 24: Hosted Tribute to Jim blood drive at AGLC Fall Festival.
  • November: Collected food items for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church pantry and helped to prepare and serve Thanksgiving community meal at their church.
  • December:
    • Angel Tree – collected gifts for San Gabriel families
    • Christmas Caroling with Youth Group – sang Christmas carols to residents at Harbor Chase and GRACE Transition Housing and provided small gifts to people at each place.

Stewardship Committee 2021 Highlights

  • Conducted Time and Talent campaign and received 82 responses.

  • Conducted Low key Stewardship Campaign in November.

  • Funded Endowment Fund with $25,000 in contributions.

Property 2021 Highlights

  • Thanks to everyone that has participated on the property committee, as well as, everyone that has helped keep our property in excellent condition.
  • March Workday:
    • Addressed damage caused during February Freeze
    • Removed 2 large trees due to age and infestation in front of the office
  • June Workday:
    • Hedge and plant trimming
    • Spread mulch on flower beds
    • Applied pre-emergent
    • Re-stained pavilion and repaired damaged dormers
    • Cleaned and trimmed Southlake Historical Society’s Graveyard (1800’s) located just west of our property

Property 2021 Highlights

  • October Workday:
    • Flower beds thinned and replanted and started Flower Bed Adoption Program
    • Overall cleanup of grounds and hedges
  • Other Activities:
    • Parking Lot lights replaced under warranty
    • Security lights replaced on Office Building
    • New A/C in Choir Room and WiFi Thermostat installed in Sanctuary
    • Office Building 1st floor replaced with tile
    • Worked with Southlake Utilities to improve our water management and improved sprinkling

  • Ongoing Projects:
    • Review and replace locks as needed on church buildings
    • Procuring first aid kits for all building
    • Upgrade signs on buildings as needed
    • Pavilion sun and wind shades

  • New Member Sunday – October 24, 2021
    • Welcomed 7 new families
    • Next New Member Sunday TBD…very soon!

  • Encouragement Ministry
    • Ongoing ministry: we send out encouragement cards and drop off goodies to homebound members or other members in need of encouragement. If you would like to be part of this ministry, please contact Lori Anderson.

  • AGLC College Students
    • Sent care packages to 8 of our college students. If you have a child in college and would like them to receive a care package, please contact Karen Williams.

  • Prayer Chain
    • Kim Saunders continues to send out prayer chain requests. If you would like to participate in this ministry and be added to the prayer chain email, list please contact John Nelson at jsnelsontx@gmail.com

          • Survey shows that congregation is split over safety measures (45% want masks mandated, 55% don’t)
      • Staff Turnover and openings
          • Unexpected second half of the year
