FAQs

1) What happens if I arrive late at a checkpoint?

If the marshals are still at the checkpoint, you can have your brevet card stamped. However, if they are not there anymore, you should take a selfie photo/video with the background and showing your brevet card’s last stickers photo. You can proceed if you think you can still make the total cut-off time of your ride distance. The cut-off times have been designed to give you a proper estimate if you can finish the entire ride or not. If you’re not making the checkpoint closing times within the 1st half of the ride, that’s a big sign that you probably won’t finish the distance within the total cut-off time.

FAQs

2) If I finish and I am out of time, what happens?

Your finish time will still be duly noted and published in the results. However, your result won’t be homologated. For the 600km and the 1000km, which are under Audax Club Parisien, one won't be given a finisher medal and his result won’t be homologated. For the 1300km, one can still receive a finisher medal.

3) Will you collect me if I don't finish the ride and decide to quit in the middle of the ride?

NO. The audax rides have always been self-supported rides and you are responsible for your own health and safety. However, should you not finish the ride, we suggest that you get to the nearest open checkpoint where the marshals are still working. They can help arrange transport for you or if we have space in our vehicles, we would gladly take you with us going back. However, you will have to wait for marshal duties to finish and there is no guarantee that there will be vehicles to carry you back. Some checkpoint marshals will be on motorbikes and not ivehicles.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PLAN IN CASE THINGS GO WRONG.

FAQs

4) Can I bring a Support Vehicle?

When one registers for the audax rides with distances 600km and above, one is considered a mature audax rider who rides with caution, can ride through the dark and practice prudence at all times. However, we know that we are still in the Philippines where response time for emergencies is still slow compared to other Audax-riding countries. The answer to this question is YES but these support vehicles must follow the following guidelines:

- No direct follow 24/7 but leap frogging is allowed. Don’t use the SAG lights to light the road. Think of PBP.

- Always be careful when overtaking.

- Leap frog and do not stop on the road itself. Vehicles can stop at shoulders or establishments but not on the road itself so as not to impede other motorists and cyclists.

- Do not use your support vehicle to cheat (e.g. drafting behind it, or have someone inside push you).

4) Do I have to bring my brevet card with me? YES!
