1st draft proposal expectations

New Deadline: Sunday 9 a.m.

  1. Look at requirements. Meet every one.
  2. This proposal is not to the document audience; it is to me. You are proposing a topic for a final project to me.
  3. Use recommendation reports to identify and evaluate possible solutions, not “prove” your preconceived conclusion.
  4. Let’s be flexible with the length. Take the space you need to propose your project but no more than you need.
  5. Say what you need to say and stop talking. No “filler” or “fluff.”
  6. Use paragraphs. Have a focus for each.
  7. Use information design tools, like subheads, bolding, and bullets (but don’t write in PowerPoint-speak).
  8. Document your sources clearly.
  9. Back up what you say with evidence.

SUMMARY: 1st draft should be complete but not necessarily perfect.
