Fundraising Report
We’re so close to the finish line for our Fall Fun Run. With your support, we can make it all the way!
We’ve raised $12,650, reaching 84% of our goal.
We’ve met our first school milestone of $10,000 to fund the new Little Free Library!
18% of students are registered, and 15% have received at least one donation.
Every contribution counts and helps support students at Bayard Rustin Elementary School.
Let’s make that final push to hit our $15,000 goal by November 14, 2025!

Hispanic Heritage Month
On September 30th Cantaré gave an interactive and engaging presentation where they performed songs in Spanish and Portuguese, and the children were introduced to instruments from Latin America.
Students learned about the historical and cultural background of the music.
During the assemblies children sang, played percussion, and danced. It was an awesome experience!

Delegates’ Report
MCCPTA Safe Routes: Pedestrian & School Traffic Safety School Survey
Install sidewalk railings at the school's main entrance - this one is intended to keep the kids (and parents) from walking onto the street. After some digging, it turns out that this section of road is privately owned by the Montgomery County Board of Education. We'd need permission from the Department of Facility Management, but they never responded to my emails.
Install speed bumps on W Edmonston Drive - Please note that speed bumps and other traffic calming engineering treatments are installed after completing Speed Control Plans. Speed Control Plans study the existing behavior (traffic speeds) on the roadway and identify roadway treatments for addressing the behavior.

Delegates’ Report
Are you confused about MCPS's many online platforms? Do you wonder or worry about what students can access on their Chromebooks? Are you curious or concerned about the role artificial intelligence is playing in classrooms?
The MCCPTA Technology Committee is holding a public engagement on November 6, 2025, 7-8 pm.
Register: ZOOM
We will be presenting our2025-2026 Work Plan, updating the community on our recent work, but most of all, we want to hear about your concerns and questions relating to technology in schools!
