Dr. HSGENERAL ADVISING TIPS

  • Try to map out when you are taking any “extra” classes (e.g. the grad classes at the top of your checksheet, other content classes that may be required for you (e.g. ELL or PE endorsers).
  • Look ahead at the Time Schedule to map out when courses are offered and in what formats
  • We do not advise taking EDU 6085 and EDU 6120 at the same time as they are both very reading/writing heavy. Accelerated students, Next summer might be ok for both since you won’t be teaching.

PROGRAM STANDARDS

Same as the “state 8” for teachers, used to assess and support professional teachers

Each assessment in internship uses these standards

Many course assignments will integrate the standards to assist with familiarity and “sensemaking.” This assists with translating theory to practice.

15 of 23

DISPOSITION STANDARDS

Behaviors, habits, qualities expected of professional teachers, including things like: attentive, compassionate, respectful, organized, collegial and reflective

In general, our completion rate in the program is very high.

99% of the time, people who do not complete the program have disposition issues or concerns.
