His church faces challenges

6 of 52

6

Eph 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, that is, Christ,

His church faces many manmade doctrines, like winds and waves, that try to prevent

the church from knowing the truth of Christ

What will Christ do to help His church ?

The 5th sign of the glory of Christ in John

Jesus walked on water

John 6 : 14 – 21

9 of 52

9

John 6:13 So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with pieces from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. 14 Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.” 15 So Jesus, aware that they intended to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself, alone. 16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,

10 of 52

10

John 6:17 and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 In addition, the sea began getting rough, because a strong wind was blowing. 19 Then, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat; and they were frightened. 20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21 So they were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

John 6:13 So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with pieces from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. 14 Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

After the miracle of 5000 men fed

The people experienced and saw

His miracle of 5000 men fed

But did they see

the sign of His glory in the miracle ?

12 of 52

12

John 6:15 So Jesus, aware that they intended to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself, alone.

There was a force working against Jesus

That force was the desire and the will of men to depend on their own self effort

Jesus depends only on God for His status

13 of 52

13

John 6:16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea, 17 and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.

The disciples desired to lead the boat

to a new land

John 6:16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea, 17 and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 In addition, the sea began getting rough, because a strong wind was blowing.

There was a strong wind blowing that made

the sea of Galilee rough

The wind tried to prevent the boat from reaching the land as the disciples had intended

15

John 6:16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea, 17 and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 In addition, the sea began getting rough, because a strong wind was blowing.

The disciples were trying to lead the boat (i.e. the church) to cross the sea into the land (i.e kingdom of heaven)

But the winds (i.e. manmade religions), were trying

to prevent the disciples from doing so

16 of 52

16

John 6:19 Then, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat; and they were frightened.

The winds were not a tail wind, but a head wind that

blew against the direction of the boat

That is what doctrines of religion will do; they are anti Christ

The disciples were trying hard to overcome the winds

to move the boat forward, but it was very hard

17 of 52

17

John 6:19 Then, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat; and they were frightened.

Jesus came to help

Jesus did not abandon His disciples and His church

What did Jesus do ?

18 of 52

18

John 6:20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21 So they were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

Mat 14:32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are truly God’s Son!”

Jesus calmed the people in the boat with

the message of His love

When His church accepted the truth of His love, the winds of religion died down

19 of 52

19

John 6:20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21 So they were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

Mat 14:32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are truly God’s Son!”

When His church accepted the truth of His love, Jesus made the boat reached the land of the His kingdom immediately

Jesus will make His disciples successful in leading His church

to the kingdom of heaven on earth

20

The 5th sign of the glory of Christ

Through the message of His love,

Jesus made His disciples successful in leading His church. against the strong winds of manmade doctrines,

Into the kingdom of heaven on earth

The time of His church has come

His church faces another challenge

22 of 52

22

Mat 6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then, if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Although the church (the body of Christ),

already has His light in them,

they may still be living in darkness

How can that be ?

23 of 52

23

Mat 6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then, if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

His church will live in darkness if they are spiritually blind and cannot see His glory

A blind person may have received blessings,

and yet he still cannot see

24 of 52

24

The 6th sign of the glory of Christ in John

Jesus healed a blind man

John 9 : 1 – 7

25 of 52

25

John 9:1 As Jesus passed by, He saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.

26 of 52

26

John 9:5 While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.” 6 When He had said this, He spit on the ground, and made mud from the saliva, and applied the mud to his eyes, 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he left and washed, and came back seeing.

27 of 52

27

John 9:1 As Jesus passed by, He saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

There was a blind man from birth

Jesus said that the right question was not to ask why the person had become blind

But who would do the works of God to heal

the man from blindness ?

28 of 52

28

There will be a believer who is spiritually blind

since the day he becomes a believer

The right question is not why that is so ?

The right question is who will do the works of God

to heal that person from his blindness

29 of 52

29

John 9:4 We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.

Who would do the works of God ?

Jesus said “We” and not “I”

So who else that would be similar to Jesus to do the works of God ?

30 of 52

30

John 9:4 We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.

Who would be similar to Christ to do the works of God to heal the man from blindness ?

As Christ was sent by God,

that person is also sent by Jesus

31 of 52

31

Mat 28:16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated to them. 17 And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

The ones that Jesus sent to the world

are His disciples

Therefore it will be His disciples that will be able to open the eyes of a blind church

32 of 52

32

John 9:5 While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.” 6 When He had said this, He spit on the ground, and made mud from the saliva, and applied the mud to his eyes,

God created a living man from the dust

and the breath of life

Similarly Jesus created a new life for the blind person

33 of 52

33

John 9:7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he left and washed, and came back seeing.

The meaning of Siloam is “sent”

The pool of Siloam is the place where His disciples

that Jesus has “sent”,

are gathering and enjoying His living water

34 of 52

34

John 9:7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he left and washed, and came back seeing.

Jesus sent the people in His blind church to the church of His disciples to be washed by His living water

So that His church will no longer be blinded by

manmade theological doctrines, and now can see that

life come from seeing the truth of Christ

35 of 52

35

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and make them know that I have loved you.

Jesus will make the congregation of the church that is still possessed by religion, to come to the church in Philadelphia

So that their eyes will be opened and

can see the love of Christ

36 of 52

36

Jesus will use His disciples to open the eyes of His blind church, so that they will see the truth that

life comes from the works of Christ

The time of His church to see His glory has come

37 of 52

37

What happened after the man could see ?

What happened after a blind church

can see His glory ?

38 of 52

38

John 9:8 So the neighbors, and those who previously saw him as a beggar, were saying, “Is this not the one who used to sit and beg?”

Now that the blind had a new life, he stopped begging

A blind church likes to beg for money from her congregation

A clear eye church will be blessed in the kingdom of heaven

so that they cease to become a beggar

39 of 52

39

The blind has become a beggar

Many churches that the world considered to be rich,

actually just sit and do not work. They just beg their congregation to give to the church routinely, at the same place, again and again, just like beggars

In God’s eyes, they are beggars

Even as God loves poor beggars,

God desires His church to stop begging

What will God do to stop His church from becoming

a beggar ?

40 of 52

40

This is God’s way to make His church

cease to become beggars

By sending the disciple of Christ, to bless His church

with the seeds of the kingdom of heaven

(thru the miracle of 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish,

The 4th sign of the glory of Christ

The time of His church has come

41 of 52

41

By sending the disciple of Christ, to lead His church

to enter the kingdom of heaven on earth, to be blessed

(like the disciples leading the boat across the sea

to the land; the 5th sign of the glory of Christ)

The time of His church has come

This is God’s way to make His church

cease to become beggars

42 of 52

42

By sending the disciple of Christ, to open the eyes of

His blind church, so that they will see that

life come the works of Christ

(just like the blind man that stopped becoming a beggar, after his eyes were open; the 6th sign of the glory of Christ)

The time of His church has come

This is God’s way to make His church

cease to become beggars

43 of 52

43

When His church has been transformed :

  • Blessed by the kingdom of heaven on earth
  • No longer blind to the truth of Christ

They will stop begging, and become blessings

His church will become His testimony to the world

44 of 52

44

John 9:13 They brought the man who was previously blind to the Pharisees. 14 Now it was a Sabbath on the day that Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. 15 Then the Pharisees also were asking him again how he received his sight. And he said to them, “He applied mud to my eyes, and I washed, and I see.” 16 Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And there was dissension among them.

The religious Pharisees

tried to create confusion

45 of 52

45

John 9:27 He answered them, I told you already and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again? You do not want to become His disciples too, do you?” 28 They spoke abusively to him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

The man was happy to become the disciple of Christ and now he could stand against the religious Pharisee

The time of His church has come

to stand against the intimidation of religion

46 of 52

46

John 9:35 Jesus heard that they had put him out, and upon finding him, He said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 He answered by saying, “And who is He, Sir, that I may believe in Him?” 37 Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you.” 38 And he said, “I believe, Lord.” And he worshiped Him.

As the Son of man,

Jesus comes to serve and bless mankind

The time of His church has come

to be served and blessed by Christ

47 of 52

47

John 9:39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” 40 Those who were with Him from the Pharisees heard these things and said to Him, “We are not blind too, are we?” 41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now that you maintain, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.

A blind church lives in the sin of religion

(even though they are still saved)

A clear eyes church has been sanctified by Christ

The time of His church has come

to be sanctified like in day 7

48 of 52

48

The 6th sign of the glory of Christ

Jesus sent His disciples to open the eyes of His blind church so that His church can see His glory and be sanctified

The time of His church has come

Tanda ke 5 dan 6 dari kemuliaan Kristus di Yohanes

Jesus sent His disciples to His church, so that His church :

  • will be led to the kingdom of heaven on earth to be blessed
  • will be led to see His glory and be sanctified

So that His church :

  • will be blessed and sanctified, like in day 7
  • will stop begging
  • will be able to face the intimidation by the religious leaders
