Autonomous Period (30 seconds)

What is the Autonomous Period?

  • Is a autopilot period, listed below are ways to score only in this period:
    • Able to pace laps (clockwise), gaining points for each lap completed.
    • Pick up balls (pick-up points only count in this period).
    • Doing anything noted in the teleop period (points doubled during autonomous).

Teleop Period (2 minutes 30 seconds)

What is the Teleop Period?

  • Is the remote-controlled period, finishing the second 5/6 of the game
  • Robots can score by:
    • Feeding balls through their alliance goal (1 point, 1 yen)
    • Shooting through the hexagon ring on any of the 3 bases (2 points)
    • Shooting into the hoop located on the hill, human operators (5 points)
  • Speaking of alliance goals, you get a currency called yen, to spend in a variety of ways:
    • Take control of any chosen base (10 yen)
    • Give the human player a single shot for the hill hoop (3 yen)
    • Give everyone 15 seconds to score as many balls they can into the hill hoop, or hexagon to any base they control(20 yen)
    • Add a 1% bonus to the points(1 yen)

Extra Notes:

  • Points scored by the robot, minus the alliance goal, are doubled.
  • Any points scored into the hill hoop, by human player or robot, have increased modifiers per controlled base (2x for 1 base, 3x for 2 bases, 4x for all bases)

The Hill

  • A sloped platform, elevated 1’ above the base of the field.
  • Two Hexagons, elevated being a 42” (Inscribed) Hexagon. Base being a 82” (inscribed) hexagon.

The Hoop

  • A large funnel (30” diameter, 2’ high) located above a (15” diameter, 5’ high) tube.
  • Primary location for scoring points.

The Base

  • A sloped platform, elevated 2” above the base field. It is 2’ in diameter, with the slope ending at 2.6’ in diameter from their center.
  • 3 located in the field.

The Hexagon ring

  • A 18”’ hexagon ring, located above a 44” pole.
  • Perpendicular to the closest wall of the field.
  • One Hexagon ring located at each base.

Arena Elements Continued + Yen

Alliance goal

  • A small 2’ square slot located at each alliance station.
  • Provides the easiest scoring location for most teams, while also being the primary resource of currency (yen) to spend during the game.

Yen

  • A currency available to each Alliance.
  • Spend it in a variety of ways, primarily in helping the alliance net extra points.
  • (1 alliance goal score = 1 yen for the alliance).

Robot Classes and Actions

Tier 1 (simple)

  • A robot is more focused on exploiting the other alliance’s weakness
  • Primarily playing an offensive/defensive role rather than scoring
  • Making other alliance robots more unreliable on their scoring mechanism, hindering ball pickups, etc.
  • Mainly distracting and sabotage of higher-tier robots.

Tier 2

  • Robot designed with mostly a single task or two in mind.
  • Built with a great chance of success on their selected tasks
  • Example being a robot focused on picking up balls and feeding through the alliance goal or to other robots for scoring.

Tier 3

  • Hybrid robot capable of doing nearly every task provided in the game, but most likely not perfect in all
  • More reliable in specific tasks
  • Can do any to adapt to current situations if need be
  • Largely affected by tier 1 type robots

Tier 4

  • Hybrid robot capable of doing most, if not all tasks, with high success
  • Adaptable and reliable to many situations
  • Can be easily made vulnerable by a tier 1 robot
  • Focused mainly on scoring

Tier 5

  • Takes advantage of the power of melee and fast ball transport
  • Better designed to prevent being tipped over
  • Defensive robots are ineffective against this tier, since they can reach over robots
  • Quick and reliable ball pickup system

Notes:

  • Robots can be hybrid-tier and/or multitier, such as the supposed tier 1/5, with the properties of both
  • There are unique robots
