Things to consider about CCP

  • Is my child ready for college level content?(Parents and students will have to sign a waiver through the college regarding sensitive content)
  • If the student doesn’t pass, or withdraws after the deadline, the financial responsibility falls on the family.
  • The professors will only communicate with the student unless the student fills out the FERPA on their My Tri-C Space.
  • Transportation is not provided by the school.
  • Is my child responsible enough to meet all deadlines for registration each semester? Deadlines are non-negotiable.
  • Online courses provide more of a challenge. Students must be logging in regularly and turning assignments in on time or they can be dropped with a failing grade from a course.
  • If your child is involved in athletics, juggling the schedule can be tricky and their SHS classes take priority over CCP.

Step 4 - REVIEW YOUR TEST SCORES/GPA

    • Eligibility for College Credit Plus is dependent upon eligible test scores from a State approved exam or a cumulative, unweighted 3.0 GPA.
    • For college-level placement, students that will be in grades 11-12 during their first term of College Credit Plus enrollment with a cumulative unweighted 3.0 GPA DO NOT NEED TO TAKE AN ENGLISH PLACEMENT.
    • Students entering grades 7-10 MUST TAKE THE ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST
    • Students entering grades 11-12 with less than an unweighted 3.0 GPA will have to take placement testing as determined by the institution.
    • For additional information, read more about the Tri-C English and math placement tests.
    • English scores are required for most courses; math scores may be required, depending on course selection.

Step 5 - WAIT FOR CCP ADMISSION DECISION FROM TRI-C -

  • This letter will come via email so make sure you set up the Tri-C email when you are informed that they have received your application. It is critical that you get into the habit of checking your Tri-C and SHS email to stay on top of what you need to know for acceptance and registration.
  • This message may indicate that you are Conditionally Accepted. If so, read the message carefully to see what else you must complete in order to be accepted

You will not be accepted into College Credit Plus until transcripts and/or eligible test scores have been submitted

Step 6 - You’ve received an OFFICIAL acceptance email - Congrats! --NOW, CHOOSE YOUR CLASSES (If the courses you are taking are at SHS, you need not go any further. These include College Comp 1010, 1020, General Psychology)

  • Review the steps on the acceptance email.
  • Visit Tri-C’s class schedule page:
  • Use this link for a Video guide on searching for class options
  • Decide which classes you would like to take. Review the class schedule on Tri-C’s schedule. Have the Subject and Class Number (i.e. ENG 1010) Please check the time of day as well as which days the course/s are offered so it fits your SHS schedule.
  • Write these down and make an appointment with your SHS Counselor.

23 of 30

STEP 7- SCHEDULING YOUR TRI-C CLASSES

  • After your SHS counselor approves your classes and submits the “Authorization to Attend” (ATA) form (this is an online form only your school counselor can complete), you will then communicate directly with Tri-C CCP counselors.
  • They will contact you via email with the next steps to follow. -Students may be required to attend an in-person or virtual/phone meeting with a Tri-C counselor.
  • READ these emails very CAREFULLY to ensure that you have been enrolled in the class. THIS IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY.

Steps for a Successful CCP Process

  1. Submit the online Intent to Participate/Textbook Policy Form by April 1st, 2024 (Even students who were in CCP this year still need to do this EVERY school year)
  2. Apply on your intended college’s CCP site if new to CCP.
  3. Request your transcripts be sent using the transcript release form on the guidance website.
  4. If you are an uprising 11th or 12th grader you will need an unweighted GPA of 3.0. Some exceptions are possible if you fall between 2.75-3.0.
  5. If you are an uprising 7th-10th grader you will need a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 3.0 for acceptance and you will need to take the English/Math Placement Exam or hold a qualifying ACT Score.
  6. Wait for acceptance email. Conditional acceptance does NOT mean you are accepted.
  7. Meet with your school counselor to discuss courses you wish to take and your high school schedule. Counselor will fill out the Authorization to Attend form for you if the courses you wish to take are not on SHS’s campus.
  8. Follow registration instructions/make appointment to register classes with the college.
  9. Adhere to all deadlines.
