containing information about a

particular topic:

.It can be published by a single

person or by an organization.

.There are many types of websites.

They can belong to companies,

e-commerce, schools, NGO’s,

government agencies, newspapers, etc.

.Usually, we access the website through a home page, which gives

access to different web pages.

DOMAIN NAMES AND EXTENSIONS

-A website is identified by a domain name:

.This name is usually similar

to the website owner’s name.

.It is part of the URL of each

web page on the website.

-It is the suffix that follows the

domain name in a web address:

.com, .org

-In some cases, the extension

indicates the country.

In the United Kingdom it is .uk,

in Spain it is .es ,

in The United States it is .us ,

in France it is .fr , etc.

-In other cases, the extension

indicates the content of the page.

For example, some NGO’s are .org.

Some public organisations are .gov

-Governments, public organisations and non-govermental organisations have official websites:

.These sites are a reliable source of information.

.They usually have a search option to type in what you are looking for.

-If you are looking for information on
