      • The overall goal is to inform students/caregivers of the opportunities available both prior to graduation and post-graduation
      • Provide interview opportunites in order to practice important skills
      • Inform students of employment opportunities as they become available

Look out for:

      • Job fair opportunity in the spring
      • On-site job interviews scheduled as available
      • Job postings we receive from opportunities in our community

The Gap Year is something that has increased in popularity over the past several years.

Gap Years give students an opportunity to get out and have life experiences prior to determining if College is the best fit, or what to study. In fact, many colleges offer deferred admissions to allow for Gap Years.

Gap Years are common amongst certain religious groups.

Many Gap Year opportunities & programs focus on service toward community.

Military

It is a myth that students who are not successful in school can simply join the Military. While the Military will work with students wishing to enlist (each branch has their own specifications), students are expected to be in good standing with the school/community, be physically fit for the experience, and have taken and successfully passed the ASVAB exam. In many instances, college funding can be obtained by joining a military branch.

CNA/GNA

Construction/Welding

While a Tech School or Apprenticeship may not result in a 4 year degree, students joining this world gain hands-on experience and knowledge all at once.

Many students who follow this path are working within their field 18 months - 2 years post graduation from HS.

Almost all of them are earning significantly above the average salary for the United States, with some earning over 80K in their first full year of work.

Teacher Letters of Recommendation

When you are trying to decide which teachers you should ask for a recommendation letter, think back to ALL of the teachers you've had throughout high school. Consider these questions:

      • Which teachers did/do you know well?
      • Which teachers knew/know you the best?
      • Were/are there any classes in which you really excelled?
      • Were/are there any classes that you really struggled in, but took initiative to improve your performance?
