  • In short, if you wouldn’t want Dr. Vinson and the School Board to see it, don’t view it on the Internet, email it or save it
  • No expectation of privacy
    • Internet browsing filtered and logged
    • Email is searchable and may be examined or monitored

TOOLS FOR STAFF

  • All issued equipment belongs to Wylie ISD – even laptops and cell phones
    • “Professional” staff given laptops with Windows 11 and Office 365
    • Many other staff issued Chromebooks
    • Please be careful with them, but please take them home and use them!
  • 10GB Internet connection for fast access
  • Mailboxes now in Exchange Online
    • Check Outlook on the Web at www.outlook.com
    • Sign In using username@wylieisd.net and district password

CLOUD STORAGE CONSIDERATIONS

  • Microsoft OneDrive for Business
    • Desktop and Documents synced there
  • Google Drive = G: drive
    • My Drive and Shared drives located there
  • Have access to files anywhere you have Internet access
  • Should be set to Available Online, not Available Offline
  • Available Offline uses laptop disk space; only 256GB!

EMAIL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Please use for district purposes only
  • Deleted Items and Sent Items folders purged after 365 days
  • Junk E-mail folder purged after 30 days
  • Mailbox size limit is 99GB
  • Cannot auto-forward email to external address
  • Tip for long addresses: use username@wylieisd.net!

  • Elementary Campuses – Two carts of 25 iPads & one cart of 25 Chromebooks in Library
  • Grades 5-12 are 1:1 Chromebooks – students take them home
  • We need your help to prevent damage and abuse!
    • Last year we spent $176,000 in parts and have a fulltime tech to repair them!

  • We use Incident IQ for technology support tickets
    • Help Desk icon on every desktop
    • Submit a ticket when technology is not working
    • Please do not ask a tech to address an issue without a ticket
    • Techs’ evaluations reference Help Desk; no ticket, no credit
    • Helps us track issues
    • Cannot support personal devices (no personal printers, APs, etc.)

FINAL TIPS

  • Public Wi-Fi: WISD_Guest with captive portal
  • All students in grades 5-12 & all staff can reset their own passwords at www.wylieisd.net/reset (campus secretary can reset staff passwords)
  • Computer lab aides and some others can reset student passwords (grades 3-12)
  • New phone? Redo multi-factor authentication (MFA); Authenticator app is best!
  • Use •+P to change your display options
  • Better to not open laptop lid/monitor when docked

  • Open Outlook (may need to authenticate)
    • We do not support the Google Meet Add-in
    • Click ∨ at far-right to show full ribbon (Home, Send/Receive, etc.)
    • Click View > click/tap Show Focused Inbox to turn off
    • Under View, click Reading Pane then select your desired view
