• Comprehension transcends modality (retaining info works the same at a cognitive level whether read or heard)
• Great for fluent readers who lack comprehension skills
• No images provided, so not a passive activity
• Same linguistic part of the brain is activated when reading or listening
• Accessing text above independent reading level
• Increased exposure to higher level vocabulary
• Convenience; Can listen while completing other tasks
• More stamina (doesn’t tire the eyes or require as much time)

• Fluency model (“pronunciation, tone, emotional pitch of a story”)
