Extra Step
Supporting Elite Athletes and Performance Artists
What is Extra Step?
The Extra Step supports are provided to elite athletes and performance artists who are training, competing or performing at a level that places considerable demands on the student. Students must manage their time well to ensure success both academically and within their chosen extracurricular pursuit. Strong organizational skills together with a proactive attitude and frequent communication with teachers will be of great benefit to students.
What is Extra Step?
The typical extra-step student spends 17 hours or more per week training, practicing or competing and/or misses significant amounts of school for competitions/performances or for extended periods of time.
What can Extra Step Provide?
How are accommodations provided?
Absences and periods of intensive training, competitions, or performances are accommodated primarily with flexibility in deadlines for tests and assignments as well as academic assistance.
