IB and TMS Mission Statements

IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

TMS Mission Statement

The mission of Tucker Middle School is to develop independent thinkers who are conscientious, compassionate, and embrace the diversity of the world around them. The challenging and rigorous educational program compels students to read with comprehension, write with clarity, and use the information to solve problems.

TMS STEM Mission Statement

The mission of the Tucker Middle School STEM is to EXPOSE students to STEM careers, EQUIP them with the skills needed to be successful, and ENGAGE students in solving the real-work problems of today.

Strategy Tip # 1

Strategy Tip #1: How to help your child with long-term project planning.

  1. Family Participation- Review the components of the project and decide which tasks family members (parents, grandparents, etc.) can assist the student with.
  2. Project Calendar- All deadlines can be noted on wall calendars, phone calendars, etc.
  3. Weekly progress checks- Every weekend you can check the calendar and the instruction sheets to see if your child is ready to meet the next deadline.

As parents, please resist the urge to do the work for your child, rather guide and coach them!

  5. (i.e. household chores, helping siblings or grandparents)
  6. Fill screen time with positive examples.
  7. Children often find their heroes and mentors in the TV shows they watch, so it’s important to fill their allotted screen time with programs that teach important character strengths.
