October Board Meeting Follow-up: EQ4 Talent Strategy

  • Analysis of reasons for leaving over the past two years:
    • Sustainability, left teaching/health concerns, grad school, admin position, ES position, commute, not a good fit
  • Analysis of exit interview data over the past two years:
    • GLOWS: Support, equipped with necessary resources, felt heard by leadership, received helpful feedback, achievements were celebrated, positive staff relationships, collaboration, and community, compensation increase
    • GROWS: Too many responsibilities/demands, too much structure and rules, need to see change based on feedback, top heavy network staffing, curriculum needs to be more culturally responsive, lack of consistent systems
  • Adaptations already in motion:
    • Shortened school day, adapted structures/rules with a focus on MS development, restorative approach to discipline, curriculum pilots and more teacher autonomy in curriculum, and additional support staff (3 IAs, 1 BII, 2 Academic Coordinators, and 1 Counselor)
  • Future plans/considerations:
    • Strategic talent review/mapping and proactive retention planning, analysis of Fall 2021 Insight survey administration, strategic conversations with SD to identify and execute supports, continued curriculum work
