In core academic subject areas, courses are assigned a different levels of difficulty.

College Prep, Honors, and AP/ECE/CCP/PLTW

Levels of difficulty are not mutually exclusive and not all courses will have all three levels of difficulty.

A student’s placement is determined by:

Academic Performance

Teacher Recommendation, and/or

Standardized Tests

In general, honors classes are for students who:

Are curious learners with a history of excellent performance,

Can work independently,

Can master material covered at a faster pace and in greater depth,

Demonstrate an excellent work ethic, and

Can manage their time effectively.

Course grades are weighted according to difficulty levels when determining GPA.

An ‘A’ in College Prep United States History is worth 4.0 quality points.

An ‘A’ in Honors United States History is worth 4.2 quality points.

An ‘A’ in AP/ECE/CCP/PLTW United States History is worth 4.4 quality points.
