The language of the future

2 of 9

What is a constructed language?

It is a language constructed by a person or people.

Nao is the first oligosynthetic language with logical word construction. It is designed as an easy but powerful language for international communication as opposed to natural languages like English which are very difficult and take years to master.

No semantic logic

  • “Throw up” has nothing to do with “throw” and “up”
  • “Break out” has nothing to do with “breaking”
  • There is no ham in hamburger.
  • Neither is there any apple nor pine in pineapple.
  • If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Unnecessarily difficult vocabulary

  • have you seen the movie? I watch movies TV viewer
  • ophthalmologist… why not simply eye doctor?
  • I don’t get it How do I get there? He didn’t get any letters Get up!…and those are the easiest ones.Many people are used to English, but don’t forget how much time and effort is spent to learn all of that, and yet the result is often not satisfactory.

Tell me more about Nao

One of the most powerful tricks in Nao is:nai warm/hot -> nais cold

That’s right. You just put s in the end and the meaning changes to the opposite. And you can do that with any word. Tall / short, similar / different, summer / winter, black / white, catch / let go - there is an incredible number of opposite words in any language, but in Nao you don’t need to memorize them!

How do you build words?

Building words is really easy. For example:

ne = make

pla = healthy

nepla = make healthy = treat, cure

We can go further:

da = person

danepla = person [who] treats/cures = doctor

The whole language works like this.

Why should I learn Nao and not Esperanto, for example?

Because other constructed languages hardly solve any of the mentioned problems. As for Esperanto, it is Eurocentric, it’s basically just a mix of European languages and it has most disadvantages that natural languages have: difficult pronunciation, a huge number of words to memorize, no logic, etc.
