Faculty Advisor(s): Dr. Eraldo Ribiero, Dept. of Computer Science, Florida Institute of Technology

Purpose

The Locker Room aims to provide soccer players with an easy and efficient way of setting up unofficial soccer games (sweats) as well as to connect and player with new players.

Motivations

  • Current systems do not make important information such as venue, date, time and attendance of sweats readily available
  • Players find it difficult to find new groups to play with
  • Groups of players have no mechanism to find additional players for their sweats
  • Players/groups unable to find people to play with based on criteria such as age, gender and position

Approach

With the current model of The Locker Room, users can:

  • create and log in and out of a profile
  • add/remove friends
  • search for other users on system based on different parameters
  • create a sweat and invite friends
  • request to join sweats open to new players
  • view sweat information and location using embedded google maps

Implementation

  • Tools used:

  • System Architecture

  • Database Structure

  • update scores of sweats
  • tally personal statistics
  • send notifications
  • enable users to chat
  • enable users to form groups

Future Work

Features to be implemented in future development:

  • communication between users using chat rooms
  • real time score-keeping
  • logging of individual statistics
  • post-match surveys to confirm sweat events
  • enable users to alter personal and sweat info

Improvements will also be made to:

  • User Interface
  • Speed
  • Security
