If educational institutions in Australia shut down or face difficulties providing the course for inter- national students studying on a student visa, they must reimburse the remaining tuition fees for the units the students have commenced but have not finished. Alternatively, they should facilitate a transfer to another course that allows students to continue their studies, and students should ensure that their visa remains valid throughout the duration of their studies.

CRICOS Number

A CRICOS number is the University’s evidence of registration with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)

Student Visa Process for Australia

Students must show one-year living expenses + one-year tuition fees + OSHC + travelling expenses (fare).

Travelling expenses mean a flight ticket to fly to Australia and to return to the home country, which is usually AUD$ 2,000.

One-year living expenses for Australia is :

• for students or guardians - AUD 29,710
• for partners coming with student - AUD 10,394
• for a child coming with student - AUD 4,449;’
• Suppose the student has fee= 25,000 for one year,
• OHSC= 1500;
• then the student needs to show = 29,711+25,000+1500+2000 =AUD$ 58,541 (Single Student)

Genuine Student (GS) Requirement

The Australian Government has replaced the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement for student visas with a Genuine Student (GS) requirement.

All applicants for a student visa must be a genuine applicant for entry. They must stay as a student and be able to show an understanding that studying in Australia is the primary reason of their student visa. The GS requirement is intended to include students who, after studying in Australia,develop skills Australia needs and who then go on to apply for permanent residence.

To be granted a student visa, all applicants must demonstrate they satisfy the genuine student criteria or the genuine student dependent criterion.

In the online student visa application form, they will ask the applicant the below questions to address the GS criteria.

• Give details of the applicant’s current circumstances. This includes ties to family, community, employment and economic circumstances.
• Explain why the applicant wishes to study this course in Australia with this particular education provider. This must also explain their understanding of the requirements of the intended course and studying and living in Australia.
• Explain how completing the course will be of benefit to the applicant.
• Give details of any other relevant information the applicant would like to include.

Genuine Student (GS) Requirement

In the online student visa application form, they will ask the applicant the below questions to address the GS criteria.

• Student Visa (Subclass 500) is required for students to study in Australia.
• Apply after enrolling in their course and receiving an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (COE).

Other important updates:

Married Cases:

• Married students need to demonstrate very strong ties back at home as an incentive to return post-course completion. Single students are preferable.
• For married cases, a marriage certificate, Spouse’s CV, professional & income documents, past immigration history and 5-6 marriage

pictures are required.

Work Experience:

• Applicants must possess relevant work experience related to their chosen course.
• They should be receiving their salary in a bank account.

Immigration History:

• Applicants with any negative immigration history are not accepted, though exceptions may apply on a case-by-case basis.
