How to maintain and Troubleshoot our Chromebook Carts...

To extend the life of our electronics and make your day a little easier too!

2 of 8

Distributing them to the Class:

  • Only the teacher unlocks the cart as keys shouldn’t be given out to students.
  • Have 2 or more “Chromebook Experts” in your room to help distribute them and put them back.
  • ONLY the “Experts” should plug the Chromebooks in at the end of the day after they have been trained.

Things go so smoothly with

these helpers.

Do’s and Don’ts:

  • Damage should be reported the moment students get devices from the cart. They need to inspect and report. (Explain to students why this is important) Chromebook Damage Doc (May require your @granitesd.org email to acess)
  • Chromebooks should NOT be used with substitute teachers. Same goes for the lab computers. No electronics with subs.
  • Students should not be left alone in the room with Chromebooks out and being used. This is often when damage/theft occurs.
  • Your room needs to be LOCKED if you have a Chromebook cart in it and your class is leaving. Cart locked and classroom door locked.
  • Students should ONLY use the Chromebook they were assigned so we can keep track if there is any damage. If theirs is broken, they may need to do/use something else. (If damage was purposeful)
  • Students should use the number of headset that matches their Chromebook so we can keep track of damage with those as well.

What to do When you are Done:

  • Students should “SIGN OUT” each time. They should POWER DOWN at least once per week so that the devices get the updates needed.
  • Be sure you are keeping them charged overnight for the next class the next day. Their charge will last all day so NO NEED to plug in during the day. (This will preserve the cables and plug ports too)
  • Using the wipes in your tub, students should take ½ a wipe to clean the keyboards 1 time weekly if possible. Use a soft cloth to clean the screen when needed.

Things to Remember:

  • Chromebook cart stays locked when not in use
  • Chromebooks are always in the cart when you leave the room
  • Rooms are always locked when you are away

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Students carry with 2 hands
  • Report damage right away
  • Only plug in Chromebooks at the end of the day. This extends the life of the power cable and batteries last all day :)
  • No food or drink around Chromebooks
  • Chromebooks are ONLY used on the desks or tables

Have fun!
