Megadeth

  • Megadeth is the american thrash metal band created by the one and only Dave Mustaine in 1983. Megadeth has been one of my favorite favorites for about 4 years already. Having 16 studio albums released, owning a grammy, being one of the bands in the "Big Four" and one of the most essential and influential band in its genre and metal at all, they have a really interesting story to tell. Going through some insane things, difficult times and addictions to their fame, I'll try to tell the most sick and cool stories in their career and lifes.

  • • As for the first cool fact I'd like to tell you about the way they had problems recording their first studio album "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good". They got 8000$ from the Combat Records label for recording their debut album, but guys spent the half of the money on drugs, so they fired their producer and practically had to take care of recording and releasing by themselves.
  • • Their second album "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" was no better. Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson, both were literally homeless during recording and lived in that old, half-destructed building that they actually used for recording.
  • • One more interesting fact is about their manager in 1995, they had to replace, because he died in a knife fight with his brother over a bologna sandwich.

  • • As to tell about Dave (frontman and founder), he's quite a fighter: he beat throat cancer, survived a clinical death over some whatever, I don't know exactly (kinda overdose+sedatives and kaput), became sober after 7 years of heroine addiction. And also he's got his own winery, releasing different wines and beers, and his own large rancho with horses.
  • • Also, the band had something like 25-30 lineup changes, approximately 26-30 people playing in a band since 1983, having only Dave Mustaine being unreplaceable.
  • • Actually, as Dave started playing, he stole his first guitar.
  • • Once, performing in Northern Ireland in 1987 or so, Dave said, quote: "Give Ireland back to the Irish", and they had to be escorted back to London in a bulletproof bus.
