Partnerships

The executive director, Peter Schaller, has worked with committee members Richard Strauss and Sheila Riley from the downtown club for many years through global partners.

Area clubs involved include After Hours, Downtown, East, and Holmen. Matagalpa is the local club in Nicaragua.

A club survey conducted a few years ago indicated that our priorities for a global grant are clean water & sanitation and mother & children's health.

The Need

According to Rayo de Sol, there is an endless need for these systems. The community is on a very high point where it is almost impossible to drill wells. About half of the year is very dry, and during this time, women and children spend hours a day walking to collect clean water. These systems are life changing for these families.

Our Goal

The goal of Rayo de Sol is to provide 100 rain collection and sanitation to families in immense poverty.

The Budget

Each system costs $775, so the total budget is going to be over $77,500. Rayo de Sol can include administrative costs in our budget up to 10%. They are calculating the cost.
