Reminder: FY23 Committee Goals

9

FY23 Committee Goals:

By June 2023, we will have added 10 new donors to the KIPP MA portfolio

By June 2023, the KIPP MA development committee will add one additional member to the committee

By June 2023, the KIPP MA development committee will have drafted and presented what the KIPP MA board engagement policy will be

10 of 16

Current Reality…

10

  • 64% of our board members have given to the annual fund this year
  • 45% met with Becca in December
  • Collectively, our board members have raised $29,000 for the annual fund
  • 36% of our board members have established new connections, provided resources, or time - of that 36%, all but 1 have already made a donation to the annual fund

Problems the Development Team is Solving for this year

What is missing?

11

  • How do we create a predictable board member giving and board member getting program at KIPP MA?
  • How do we increase our donor pool? Currently we have a shallow donor pool and if we want to launch a successful campaign we need to increase our donor pool
  • Should we additional members to the development committee with fundraising experience?
  • What should the development staffing model look like given a campaign is on the horizon?

Brainstorm Proposed Solutions

How the Development Committee can help

12

  1. Conversation around board giving
    1. 55% of the board did not make time to meet with Becca- that’s unacceptable. If you’re not willing to have a conversation around what your commitment is. We can’t pick a number because it will preclude people from the board
    2. KIPP MA should be your top two philanthropic endeavors
      1. You gotta give something
    3. 100% participation - requirement
    4. Each seat has a value - fill the bucket on that seat- every seat has a $5,000
      • Bring a check
      • Get a check
      • Or bring the knowledge of the same value
    5. Archetypes of our board members - a breakdown of seats
      • 10K +
      • 5K-10K
      • 1K-5K
      • Value, perspective, community relationships
      • Etc
      • Which one are you
    6. 100% board participation is not the goal- it’s the requirement
      • We have to be able to say that 100% of our board members give annually.
    7. Next committee meeting we will look into creating a KIPP MA archetype map for our board members
      • We will hopefully present this at our April board meeting
