Reception News
There are so many new things to learn and remember at school!
Reception class have been working hard to learn each other’s names and are continuing to build friendships.
We have also been learning which group we are in and have been busy keeping the Golden rules and earning lots of team points.

In RE, we discussed what it means to be a good steward. The children then took this learning and created ‘Being a good classroom steward’ posters.
We are fantastic stewards in the Year 1 classroom!

In Year 2, our reading lessons have been extra special thanks to the wonderful help from our many parent volunteers. Thank you for giving up your time to read with us. Well done to the children for regularly writing in their reading records.

In history this week, we have been learning even more about The Windrush Generation. We used real stories and information cards to ‘meet’ people as we got off of the HMT Windrush. It was very interesting to learn about the people who travelled on the ship and we are looking forward to finding out more.

Year 4 have been out collecting and classifying leaves this week in science. Meanwhile in English, the children used their publishing book for the very first time to write up their character descriptions.

Year 5 News
In Year 5 English, we have been analysing a poem by Homer - The Odyssey. We picked out words and phrases that stood out to us and spoke about them in more detail - relating them to the events that have occurred in our class text - Odysseus. The children have gained a lot of confidence with choosing words from the text and using direct quotes to support their answers.

Year 6 News
Year 6 we have been looking at classification keys in Science! We discussed how scientists break the animal kingdom into different categories so that we can understand how to catagorise livings things on our planet and better understand and study them. We drew on the tables which allowed us to create excellent yes/no questions to make each group more accurate.
