METHODS OF COMMUNICATION

NOTES/ COMMENTS from Prof McCartney (ACC):

​

• Pharmacy is the GATEWAY into many fields of health care. Ex. nurse, vet, doctors… all deal with drugs.
• When they complete program and get certified as a pharm tech, they will be able to be employed in any city of the U.S. They will have a great job.
• Pharm tech is a stepping stone directly into the College of Pharmacy if you want to become a pharmacist, and can become a doctor of pharmacy in a relatively short period of time.

​

WAYS PARENTS CAN SUPPORT:

1. Plan on college coursework /studying/ prep taking about 12 hours (minimum) per week to be successful.
2. Ask to see their planner / calendar and all forms that go home, to help them time manage if struggling.
3. There will be “Compliance Requirements” in program:

1. They will need to show / get immunization records and update any shots required by ACC.

2. They will need to show a copy of their social security card their junior year to register with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

3. When they are doing their practicum or internship their senior year, they will need to show they are covered by your health insurance.

4. They will need a state issued photo ID or driver’s license by September of their junior year.
