Through our needs assessment and ongoing policy outreach efforts, we know for certain that there is strong demand for Decision Focused Evaluation’s (DFE) across Eastern Africa.

Decision Focused Evaluation (DFE) are a branch of Impact Evaluation studies that are demanded by implementers to inform decisions within the time budgetary and operational constraints of the implementer.

With support from the Hewlett Foundation, we are responding to the demand for DFE by implementing a Demand-Driven Research Initiative (DDRI)

�DDRI OBJECTIVES�

1. To develop and implement rigorous Decision Focused Evaluation (DFE) projects that respond to specific policy needs

​

• To create a greater awareness and understanding among key stakeholders of the role of DFE in informing development policies and programs

​

• Effectively communicate and disseminate the results and implications of these projects to policymakers and other stakeholders and

​

• To advance NIERA’s credentials as the partner of choice for advancing DFE research in Africa.

• Develop DFE research projects through a call for proposals

• Peer-to-peer learning

• Round-table and policy discussions

• Co-create DFE research projects with exiting and new collaborators

• Call for concept notes launched end Jan

• 6 applications received by end Mar

• External review completed mid June

​

• 4 full proposals invited to submit by 22 Aug.
