3rd grade Overview

  • Last year of in town program! Travel program next year – Begin to set the expectation.

  • 7 week session- Grade 3 Girls play Saturday morning at 10:30am (Sprague). Grade 3 Boys play Saturday afternoon at 3pm (Sprague). 

  • There is 1 additional practice during the week for grade 3 (to be discussed).

  • Games are played 7 v 7 including a goalie. Arrive at least 15 min beforehand.

  • 3G and 3B each have 6 teams, each with 11 – 12 players per team.

  • End of season evaluations are very important

3rd grade Practice

  • Reserving Fields for Practice
    • The practice reservation system must be used. System is now live and ready for booking. Under FIELDS tab on website –drop down to Practice Field Schedule. Login is head coach last name U9G or U9B (SmithU9G). Coaches can reserve up to 11 weeks for practice. Cancel fields that aren’t used.
  • Please avoid Premier league times: M & W: Girls 3:45-4:45pm, Boys 5-6pm

Training

  • Training material: On the Wellesley United website under “Coaches Corner” (Password - WUSC2019)
    • 7 v 7 formation, rules of the game, curriculums, and drills
  • Coaches can email Dale to schedule a trainer to come to their practice session if they would like.

How to handle players who can not attend practice

  • Players participate in multiple activities outside of WUSC.  Usually 1 - 2 players cannot attend the practices. 
  • If a player can not attend a practice, they can attend practice with another team.  Coaches can also offer to meet with the player before game time.
  • Feel free to refer the parent to the grade coordinator.

Field Closures/Cancellations

  • Rain Stinks.
  • WUSC will make calls on field closures by 2:00 PM on weekdays if weather is bad.
  • Girls Saturday AM games will be decided by 7:30 AM
  • Boys Saturday PM games will be decided by 12:00 PM
  • Just because morning games may be cancelled, does not necessarily mean afternoon will be too.

3rd grade Field Setup

  • Grade 3 Girls set up nets and corner flags on fields 1 and 4
    • Arrive at least 20 mins before game time. Goals will be all over complex due to Friday night practice. Need 2 adults to set goals up, and need to retrieve corner flags from box.

  • Grade 3 Boys return corner flags to storage box from fields 1 & 4, leave goals in place.
