Let’s begin!

The next two slide will show you how to view and hide existing layers.

To start you need to decide whether to add to an existing layer on the map from your Bronze Award, add a new layer or create an all new map.
You can add to existing layers on your uMap or you can create new layers using your skills from the Bronze Award.
Hiding and showing existing layers to edit and add to

What might you record with a line?
Some examples of how you might use a polyline on your map:
Examples of use:
‘Draw a polyline’ icon
Also decided if you need to add a new layer or yours adding it to a existing layer
Before you use the polyline tool decided what you are using it to record.

1. Make sure the layer your want to add a polyline to is visible and all other layers are hidden.
2. Select the polyline tool.
Step 3: Select the start point and then select the point you want to draw a line to and keep going as far as you desire. As you do this a line will start to appear. Double click when you are ready to complete the line.
Once you have finished drawing your line click the last point to complete.

If you want to add a separate layer for this you can by creating a new layer.
Experiment with the different options and select what best suits your recording.
4. Input your information about the line you have drawn.
You can change the colour and/or opacity of your line by selecting shape properties.
You may want to use different colours to represent different types of route or different elements of your data recordings.
5. Now change the colour and lie weight of your line by selecting shape.
