Gather Supplies

• Junk mail, magazines, any paper scraps with a printed image
• Something round to trace. Cups will work great!
• Scissors
• Glue (any kind of glue or tape will work)
• Larger paper for the background

Draw Reference Fractions

• Trace 4 circles on a piece of paper and draw the fractions: whole, halves, fourths, and eighths
• This paper is to help you to know how to cut your circles into fractions (see next step)

Trace & Cut Circles

Trace circles on the scrap paper (junk mail, old magazines, other patterned papers) and cut out.

Create Design

• Cut your circles into different types of fractions
• Arrange the circles to create an image or pattern
• Glue the fractions to the background paper
