And Through it all she finds Edward Rochester. The love of her life.
Jane Eyer was an orphan living with her Aunt and cousins.
She was a happy little girl. She was cute and very smart. She was stubborn and not very lady-like. Her aunt despised her for it. She loved to learn, though never got sent to school until age 10.
Jane was beat on a daily basis by her older cousin John Reed. Mrs. Reed saw but it was like she had blinders on the whole time! She didn’t care and didn’t want to care. John was perfect in her eyes.
At age 10 she was sent away to school. She soon realizes it isn’t as perfect as she assumed it would be. Mr. Brocklehurst was the school’s headmaster. He was a mean, strict jerk! He only cared about the money.
Jane’s best friend there was Helen Burns. Helen had a strong passion for solving the schools mysteries which displeased Jane.
When Mr. Brocklehurst dies from typhus (the epidemic going around school) Jane’s life improves tremendously. But Helen gets sick too and passes on. She stays there for 8 more years becoming a teacher.
Jane takes a job at a manor in Thornfield.
One night while working the manor catches on fire! In a panic to escape the flames she stumbles upon a man. She saves him.
She teaches a young French girl named Adéle.
Jane works for Rochester who is very stern and is not all that good looking. As Jane gets to know him she begins to fall for him but he doesn’t know.
Rochester then proposes to her! Jane stunned says yes because she was not expecting this.
Jane later finds out that the love of her life is already married. To save her dignity she cancels the engagement.
Broke, with no job, no home, or no love she stumbles upon a family willing to take her in.
She then realizes that they are her cousins.
St. John needs her to become his wife to do a job out in India. She declines and remembers Edward.
She goes back to Thornfield to find Mr. Rochester. When she arrives there is nothing there for it has all burnt down.
Jane catches wind that Edward’s wife is dead. She searches out to find him. And they get married and live happily ever after.
