Fire Emergency Actions

Seconds count when dealing with fire!

2 of 12

In a loud voice call FIRE! Have Someone Call 911

By letting everyone know there is or may be a fire you are alerting others to take emergency action to save their lives and possibly get the fire out quickly

3 of 12

Only if the fire is SMALL

If there is just smoke or if the fire is small or is just in one appliance, secure one of the fire extinguishers and immediately apply it to the place the smoke is coming from or the base of the fire

Review:

  1. Be safe, smoke kills more people than fire. Extinguishers are only good for small fires.
  2. Keep your exit at your back when using the extinguisher
  3. Remember P.A.S.S
  4. Always aim at the base of the fire or the fuel, not the flames
  5. The extinguisher will only last 6 to 8 seconds, use short bursts and make sure the fire is completely out
  6. If the extinguisher is used up and the fire is not out, close the door to the room and exit the building
