Mary’s Pence Communications Intern
Mary’s Pence is non-profit in downtown St. Paul. They support women’s National grassroots organization through grant funding and also have a program in Mexico and Central America where they support women through financial support and emotional wellness. My role at Mary’s Pence has to help them with communications. I have written an article for the website and E-News. The article is focused on one of their grantees, I chose to focus on a non-profit called Seeds Worth Sowing. I learned a lot through the process of writing this article and communicating with the members of Seeds Worth Sowing. Another big part of my semester at Mary’s Pence has been being a member of their grant writing committee where I have learned how to write grants and find new ones that could be applied for. I am a studio art major and one of my concentrations is photography, I was very happy to utilize my photography skills as their photographer at the grantee retreat they held. This experience taught me a lot about the importance of photography for non-profit organizations. Ultimately, I’ve learned many valuable skills and had amazing experiences during my time at Mary’s Pence so far.
