Important Definitions

Gender: the socially-constructed roles, behaviors, and attributes which society associates with one sex

Equity Versus Equality: Equity is giving everyone what they need to be successful. Equality is treating everyone the same

Girl: girls refers to gender expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, and any girl-identified youth)

Womxn: an alternative spelling to women that demonstrates intentionality to include trans and non-binary people while structures are still predominantly binary in nature

Identity Labels: Recognizing everyone is a unique individual with a myriad of identities. Placing someone in one “bucket” diminished their unique lived experience.
