Celebration

What

A tool to help you celebrate the completion of your journey with everyone involved, including your team and other key stakeholders.

Why

Celebration, whether by reaching a project milestone, capturing key lessons learned or acknowledging the hard work of your team and partners, is not just a moment. It’s a momentum. This tool helps to identify the ways it can be ritualised to boost the outcomes, the people and the partnerships that drive your project.

How

1. Before using this tool, decide on your celebration format: this can be a festive gathering (can also be done virtually) where where all team members are acknowledged and thanked for their work, or it can be a ritual that you create as a group. Here are some formats to inspire you:

Example celebrations and rituals:

  • Put on a festive tune and decorate the room. Have a cake or a toast to celebrate your achievements
  • Make speeches thank everyone for their contribution
  • Ask everyone to draw or write a card that represents what they are most proud of in relation to the project and create a wall decoration
  • Create your own dance with movements based on the achievement
  • Make superhero characters that represent each member of the team

2. Use the worksheet to give each team member their role(s). Keep in mind that roles can be given to multiple people. This is one way to make sure everyone participates in the celebration.

3. Once everyone has their role, determine the length,

budget and objective of the celebration.

4. Plan for a festive and uplifting atmosphere. Think about the location, decoration and music. The celebration can also be created through a ritual. It’s most important that everyone feels like they are a part of it.
