Sondra and Gina’s Stories
Sondra has been teaching instrumental music for over 20 years in Brooklyn, NY. She spends half of her day teaching traditional band, and the other half teaching modern band.
Gina teaches at PS123K in Bushwick, Brooklyn. She incorporates the modern band approach to teach general music and chorus. She will be starting her 20th year of teaching this September.
Sondra and Gina first met at their state MEA conference. Their schools are a 10-minute drive apart. This year one of Gina’s former students is studying with Sondra. This student also studied with one of Brooklyn’s Super Band Friends. We finally have a 3K-12 pathway in our corner of Brooklyn!
