What is the Shelter, Cash and Markets Community of Practice (CoP)?

• Background: Agreed in Oct 2020 at GSC Annual Meeting to deactivate the Shelter Cash Working Group and create a Community of Practice to provide a forum for practitioners to continue to exchange, share lessons and provide technical input in the area of cash and markets in shelter responses

​

• Purpose: entry point to knowledge, resources and technical support related to the use of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) in shelter responses, and engagement in market analysis and market-based programming within the shelter sector.

​

• Who’s it for? All individuals with an interest in cash and market-based programming within the shelter sector.

​

• Who facilitates it? Global Shelter Cluster, Australian Red Cross and Catholic Relief Services (CRS)

​

What do we do?

• Discussion Forum to post questions and exchange
• Regular and ad hoc meetings to discuss thematic topics and share experience (past calls available here)
• Resource for technical support and guidance for country-level clusters
• Development of technical guidance and resources, based on demand, example: MPC Outcome Indicators for Shelter and NFI under the Grand Bargain
• Contribute to research and learning example: learning and resources on Rental Market Interventions
