DEPARTURES/RECOVERIES AREA

· Torrejón APP will use a specially designated area for DEPARTURES/RECOVERIES, from 1.000’ AGL up to 11.000’ MSL, and 31 NM to the WEST.

· It will be active from the first take-off till the last aircraft exits the area.

· It will be active again from the first aircraft in NORTH/SOUTH proceeding RTB.

IFR RECOVERY

· All IFR recovery will be procedural clearance to ILS APP.

· Close formation recoveries are recommended. If not able: Advise NLT first call to APP.

· Radar trails will be treated as a single entity, except for distances.

· NO speaking entity will be cleared to land until the last of the previous one has cleared RWY.

· AS A REFERENCE, THIS REQUIRES AT LEAST 6 NM SEPARATION BETWEEN FORMATIONS.

· Once you are transferred to APP, you are committed to approach. Unless on emergency, do not ask for space to burn fuel, rejoins, delays to adjust to recovery plan, etc. Do so with CRC/AWACS

· DO NOT ASK FOR CLOSE TRAFFIC (unless safety): YOU WILL BE DIRECTED OUT OF THE PATTERN

34 of 70

Domestics

ACO

LANDING (VFR & IFR)

· SPACING on RWY: TWR will only clear to land if:

Ø Single A/C: previous A/C is in last 300m of the runway on COLD SIDE (“Slow” Call).

Ø RWY VACATED IF FORMATION LANDING

· CAREFUL WITH CHUTE - REVERSE USE!!!

· CALL “SLOW LANE“ or “SPEED CONTROLLED” when on COLD SIDE.

· Vacate ASAP through A, B, C, D or E taxiway automatically switch GND (#5) and request taxi back.

· Clearance to vacate via any other taxiway can be requested to TWR.

RTB FORMATIONS

COMPLEX RECOVERIES SCENARIO:

IF YOU DON’T FEED IN, YOU WILL HAVE LAST PRIORITY

MC WILL DECIDE AT STEP BRIEF ON VFR OR IFR RECOVERY FOR EVERYBODY

IN CASE AN IFR RECOVERY IS BRIEFED, MC WILL BE THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED TO CHANGE TO A VFR RECOVERY (NOT A PARTICIPANTS OPTION )

IN CASE A VFR RECOVERY IS BRIEFED AND ANYONE NEEDING TO PERFORM AN IFR APPROACH, THEN EVERYBODY WILL CHANGE TO IFR RECOVERY

RTB TYPE OF FORMATION:

IFR: MAX 2 AIRCRAFTS

VFR: MAX 4 AIRCRAFTS

RTB IN MIXED FORMATION:

ONLY IN VFR

ONLY IF IT IS WORTH (NOT FOR FUN / PICTURES)

PREVIOUSLY CLEARED BY MC AND REPORTED IN STEP BRIEF

RTB BRIEFED BETWEEN AIRCREWS BEFORE STEP

SPLIT IN IFR

IF YOU PLAN TO SPLIT YOUR FORMATION IN IFR RTB, MAKE SURE BEFORE STEP, THE SPACING WITH THE NEXT FORMATION WILL NOT BE REDUCED BELOW 15 NM/3 MINUTES

LETO APP DOES NOT SPLIT FORMATIONS

§ NORMAL PROCEDURES. A/C are to recover with sufficient fuel to: complete IFR/VFR recovery, (including a missed app).with sufficient fuel to divert from Albacete to the allocated diversion landing IAW national guidelines.

§ A/C not able to execute previous procedure is to initiate a diversion to the alternate as to arrive with a fuel state IAW national regulations.

§ If A/C does not have enough fuel to divert: declare MAYDAY or EMERGENCY FUEL. That A/C will then be given priority to land, with the result that most of the rest of package may be diverted.

§ There will be NO mixed recoveries (ie. IFR and VFR)
