"Mirror This"

∙  Divide students into groups. Each group gets a set of poly spots.

·  Objective: The goal is for each group to recreate a specific design by working together and communicating effectively to negotiate strategies.

·  How to Play:

  • Each student from every group will take turns running to the other end of the area to view the design they need to copy. (Only one student per group at a time)
  • After looking at the design, the student runs back to their team and describes it from memory.
  • The team then works together to arrange their poly spots to match the design.

·  Winning: The first team to correctly recreate the design wins the round.

·  New Round: After a round is complete, the teacher will choose a new design for the teams to copy.

Target Practice Challenge

Demonstration (1 minute): Show students how to execute different shots (forehand, backhand, and a lob). Explain the importance of choosing the right shot for the target.

Target Practice (4-5 minutes):

Divide students into pairs. One partner will serve or hit the ball/shuttlecock over the net.

The receiving partner will aim to hit the target (hula hoop or cone) using the appropriate shot.

For example, they might use a forehand shot for a target that’s more directly in front of them and a backhand for a target to the side.

After each successful hit, partners switch roles.

Scoring (optional): Assign points for hitting each target (e.g., 1 point for the closest, 2 for the middle, and 3 for the farthest) to add a competitive element.

Setup:

  • Set up a net or hula hoop in the center of the playing area.
  • Place 3-4 polyspots or cones at different spots on the opposite side of the net, spaced out to encourage varied shot selection (e.g., near, middle, and far).
  • Designate a "serving zone" behind the net where players will start.
